WAKEBOARD AFTERNOON mai 25, 2008

Classé dans : Sports — fliz @ 11:41

Jerome, Arnaud, Aurelie and I decided to go to wakeboard yesterday afternoon. We met at Pongol Marina in the North west of Singapore. We hired a boat for 4-6 persons at lower price. Indeed, we paid 50 SGD per person for 2 hours!

The weather was sunny and not too hot, so perfect. We boarded in the boat of our host, Mammoud at 2pm. Jerome was the first, he had already done wakeboard, only once. He managed very well and I was surprised by his fluency. The second was Arnaud. I can say “good job” for his first try, he managed as well. I brought my video camera : you know me I always take my video camera for everything even for nothing AH AH AH!!! I took uncredible videos which are on “You tube”.

Mammoud said : “Who is the next?” In fact, at the beginning, I have not planned to do wakeboard. But Jerome and Arnaud seemed enjoyed. So, I did not think about it and I started. Mammoud was awesome, a very good teacher he explained all the gestures to do and reassure me. I L-O-V-E-D it. I managed too. It was gorgeous except the fall and swallow salted water. I forget to tell you but do not imagine blue transparent water as in your dreams but rather a sea where you can not see inside… beurk! It was very strange but I was not afraid…

Here you can see my “exploits” in the video below.

It was a really good afternoon. We had a lot of fun! I am so hurry to try again in two or three weeks!

OUR FIRST GOLF COURSE mai 23, 2008

Classé dans : Sports — fliz @ 8:04

After 8 hours of golf lessons, a little bit theory, practicing, Jerome, Lizhi Ibrahim and I had our first golf course last Tuesday afternoon. How you can imagine, it was not the normal one but they called it the”Mickey Mouse”. Do not laugh, please… Why this name? Because there are 9 holes instead of 18 holes.

We spent 2 hours and 10 minutes there. For me, It was terrible! I had the feeling I had learned nothing before, my ball went in all directions.

The atmosphere with our teacher was very stressful : he said at each hole : “Hurry up, there are people behind you, they are waiting”. I was so nervous I could not concentrate. That is pity because the golf course was nice. I had not imagine that these lasthours will be a torture for me : I did not enjoy. I thought that it will be a part of pleasure. Unfortunately, NOT!

After this 10th lesson, Jerome and I took a resolution : Firstly, take the next lessons with another teacher, then, learn again our gestures and finally, enjoy it! :-)

Maybe in a few weeks, we will be ready to go to golf course in Malaysia… (I know I am hopeful woman)

P.S. : So sorry, but for this post, there is no photos because it was forbiden.

MY FIRST LESSON OF GOLF mars 26, 2008

Classé dans : Sports — fliz @ 5:27

Who would imagine that one day,  I will play golf? Even not myself…

I must to explain you. Here, in Singapore, playing golf is not the same meaning that in France. Few people play golf in my native country, why? Because, it is only reserved for persons belonging to a certain social level and the rate is far too high! It means it was not for me… At the beginning, I did not understand why a number of persons got so interested in golf. I said to myself : “For me, golf is for pretentious people, what is th interest?” Then I realized gradually that Singapore is a “must” for practising : interesting price, many golf courses, good for business…

I can confide that my first golf lesson last Saturday was strange because I thougt not to have my place in this world and not to be ease. But, it was a mistake… We went to this lesson with another couple of friends who never hit a ball like us. We will have 9 lessons more means 1 hour for each lesson.

A Singaporean golf teacher explained us the basic rules : it was a little bit difficult for me with the technical words but I managed to understand the essential… oufffffffffffff!

I can tell golf seems so easy whan you watch on TV. In real world, having hard time. You must be  very concentrated on your gesture, ball, position of feet,… Before, I thought : “golf, a sport? ah ah ah”. Now, I will say : “it is a question of time and strategy, you must think!”.  This sport teaches me to be patient and calm. But, what happens to me? It seems to me I become a “golf addict”…

THE WINNER IS… décembre 2, 2007

As you know, the Singapore’s Marathon took place this morning. This moment was long awaited. Jérôme participated and I attended (of course!). It was his second Marathon, the first one was held in Paris last April.

He got up very early at 2 o’clock in order to have breakfast three hours before the race. He left at 4 o’clock. Me, I woke up at 5 o’clock.

The race started at the “Fullerton Hotel” in downstown at half past five. Why so early? Because of the sun rise early and it’s hot.

I waited for Jérôme on East coast near our home. I arrived there at 7 o’clock with my camera to immortalize his efforts. When I saw him at the 23th kilometers, he seemed in good shape (big smile) while at the 30th kilometers he began to slow down. I kept going to shout and follow him with a bottle of water and my big backpack : “That’s great Jérôme, you’re the best!”. I used all the superlatives that I knew to encourage him. I loved the atmosphere of the Marathon, there were orchestras everywhere.

Before the arrival, I wanted to support him. I decided to go to the 37 th kilometers by taxi. The last kilometers are the hardest. It started to be really hot at 9 o’clock.

After, I went towards the arrival by MRT. It took me ten minutes. Otherwise, I arrived ten minutes late. That’s a pity!

Jérôme called me thirty minutes later to tell me that he had finished in 4 hours 26 minutes. Ooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuahhh!!! I’m so proud of him. He was so courageous!!! It made me want to run the 10th kilometers. Can you imagine?

FIRST PART : 10 KILOMETERS ON EAST COAST novembre 4, 2007

10-km.jpg

This morning, Jerome, Faudel, Tasneem( a couple of friends who came to see us for 4 days) and me woke up very very early. What time? It was 6 o’clock. It was really hard as we went to bed around 1 am. Why? Because Jerome and our hosts decided to run the 10 kilometers. Me? I never run; just after the bus.

Tasneem and Faudel amazed me because they only slept 4 hours.

As far as I’m concerned, I was the most lazier : I got up later, I didn’t run and I waited quietly on a bench with my “Prada” sun glasses. The weather was so nice : not too hot, not too cloudy, just perfect.

The race started on 7 o’clock. For this occasion, Jerome had bought a special running equipment yesterday: a top and a short. I admired them, I thought it was brave to participate to this 10 kilometers. In Singapore, it is hard to run because of the heat. Bravo! They did it. Jerome made 14 kilometers in 1hour and 6 minutes: not bad for me. But Jerome didn’t proud of him because he lags behind its program. I’m his personal coach for the “Singapore Marathon” which will take place on December 2nd 2007.

Next step : the Marathon.
