Horse race

Horse race

For the first time, Jerome and I joined last night some friends in Happy Valley, a district in Hong Kong Island. Oliver, an friend from London, proposed to come to the horse race. We attented our first race in the giant race track located in Happy Valley.

In my opinion, what is ammazing when you come in the racetrack, is its location  in the middle of the illuminated skycrappers. OUAAAAAAAAAAH! We went there yesterday because each Wednesday, it is the place to be for both newcomers like us and insiders. Everybody can come to see! You have to pay only 10 HKD (1€) for the entrance. Inside, thera are many stands : you do not die of thirsty and beer flows like water! For me as usual, of course, no alcohol grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Except this, it was an incredible night, we discovered a nice place and it was a good experience. Guess what? I played twice and won twice!!!  A lucky hand??? Watch the video below.

What it impressed me in HK it is HK by night. This big urban city is livingfull as well as day and night. When I speak about HK is all the area : From HK Island to the New Territories. There is always people everywhere : you can not be bored!
What I prefer, it is the moment when HK is lightening as soon as the night is coming down. It is magical to see the skycrappers dressed of shiny highlights.

Jerome and I were glad to discover the view from the “SEVVA” a very hype bar located at the 25th floor of “Prince’s buiding” in Central Business District. Nghia brought us there last Saturday. You can see the video above.

HONG KONG PARTY juin 5, 2008

Socrate Birthday

Jerome and I went to HK for 5 days in order to celebrate the birthday of Socrate, a friend of my husband.

For the first time, we booked an hotel the “Jen hotel”, very design, located in the west of HK Island. It just took us by taxi 5 minutes to go downtown. A couple of friends, Duyen, Sopheap, their son and daughter were there as well. They came from Paris to create the surprise for Socrate, his mum came too.

We were not lucky : the weather was horrible, it rained everyday.

The party planner was Nghia,he organized everything. He reseved a private room at the “Lotus”, a thaï and vietnamese restaurant last Saturday night. There were about 15 persons for the first part of the evening. Then we went to the “Finds”, Nghia and Socrate love this place : they know the manager.15 persons more joined us. Different nationalities : French (of course!); Korean; Chinese; English and even greek! It was very pleasant to be on the roof outside. HK is the place where people meet, mix and have a talk very friendly. I met even a greek girl in the toilet! We swapped our contact number. Her name is Alexia, she speaks a perfect French. (Sometimes, i wonder why I am not “quadrilingue”! the answer is maybe I am French…)

After a lot of champagne bottles, we went to a club named “MInt” (you pronounce it just like in French). You gonna say it is strange but I am the only one who drink no alcoohol except Chantana she is pregnant… I was very proud of me. When Isaw around me,alot of drunk people : not nice, isn t it?

Jerome and decided to go back to the hotel at 4 am : very late in the night or rather early in the morning. I feel as a old person, I am not used to go out late. When you live Singapore, there is not much entertainment. Singaporeans are not very funny people. When you compare Singapore to HK, Singapore is for family whereas HK is for singles. We should be used to out going for a next moving…

The day after, we strolled along the HK bay. Then, we joined our friends to TsimTsa tsui station, the other side of the bay in order to see the “Symphony of lights” but it was really disapointed.

As we could not go to visit the Peak, Aline and I decided to go shopping in Causeway Bay last Monday. it was fantastic : a building with a plenty of tiny shops. I found my “hapiness” in a long striped shirt and fushia ballerinas for cheap price.

Time flies! Tuesday, my last day in HK. it was a very nice trip and i lovedto spend time with frinds drom Paris.

SUNDAY BRUNCH ON EAST COAST PARK mai 25, 2008

Classé dans : Going out — fliz @ 1:50

It is funny but I have never tried brunch when I was In Paris. So, I decided to try in Singapore.

Jerome, a couple of Swiss friends Muriel and Bernard and I ate a first brunch at the “Twenty Six”, an outdoors  restaurant located on East Coast Park. We got there at 11 am and we stayed until 3pm : very relaxing time.

We booked but we were surprised to be the only one. In Paris, a place like this would be full all the time. But in Singapore, the most beautiful and design restaurants and bars are often empty, don not ask me,  I can not explain it… The atmosphere, the seaview,  the ambience, were wonderful. We were lucky because a jazz band performed during the brunch. I repeat myself once again but life in Singapore is terribly hard, I assure you…

We started by a continental buffet, then I ate pan fried seabass with mushrooms as main course, it was very delicious. And the best, the most long awaited, the supreme final: the desserts. I took a slice of chocolate tart with a magnificent layer of nougatine, a must! A mini apple crumble and a blue berry muffin : so so ; an abricot creme in a little glass : exquisite! And I finish with another slice of the famous chocolate tart : irresistible!

A walk along the sea needed!

What pleasure to have a friend who visit you!

Anne -Laure, a friend from Paris, decided to come and visit me for one week after travelling two weeks in Thailand. It was a very sunny week. I was enjoying to share my new life and she discovered a lot of things (not about me but the town). I had planned with enthousiasm a program. Here it is.

First day : First of all, we walked on Orchard, the must beginning. Why? Simply because this is the most famous place for shopping! Moreover, Anne-Laure found her hapiness, a “Guess” watch at discounted price. After, we went to “Little India” by walk. We stopped to have dinner in my favourite Indian restaurant “Muthu’s curry”. So delicious… We finished our evening at Clarke Quay, a district for entertainment. We danced until 2am to the rythm of a Singaporian band.

Second day : We walked in Chinatown, the favourite district of Anne Laure. After walking, we needed a break, we set up an appointment with Aurélie at Royal Plaza Hotel. We had one drink or rather 2 drinks( you drink one the second is free) at the Heat Ultra Lounge, a bar at level 2.  So, I tried the litchi Caïpinrinha twice. The ambiance was very relaxing in this baroque and design bar. In addition, I got my first membership card. So chic!

Third day : Anne-Laure and me joined on East Coast Parkway some friends for a BBQ. Unfortunately, Jérôme stayed at home because he had fever. :(

In the evening, we went out to the CHIJMES, a former convent for girls.

Fourth day  : Anne-Laure and me went to Sentosa, the artificial Island in the South of Singapore. We met at KM8, a trendy beach bar, different preople of all nationalities who invite us for having a champagne toast (again!).

Fifth day : We went to Bintan for all day, my favorite Island, located in the south east of Singapore (see my  post last November). How I can summarize this trip? Just R-E-L-A-X in front of the sea… I know sometimes my life in Singapore seems to be very hard!

Sixth day : Anne-Laure and I discovered the “Orchid Garden”in the Botanic Garden of Singapore. 30000 species of orchids, it is impressive, isn’t it? We admired the VIP Orchids, my favorite is Nelson Mandela one.   So nice to stroll there!

Seventh day : the come back day. After a great week, it is time to say good bye. Anne-Laure came back to the “real world” with memories…

LADIES NIGHT WITH CRANIUM février 17, 2008

soiree-cranium.jpg

As you know, when I was in Paris, I invited my girls friends to play at the famous “Cranium”. I love this game! It was the old good days (snif!) even if I hate losing (do not tell anybody…).

Unfortunately, I didn’t bring my cranium and I left from Paris without it. I have some choice to do…

But, in Singapore, I met also a fan of this game, Anne. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS! She proposed to bring hers, a special edition for our first lady night last tuesday. What a good idea? We decided to do it at home because Jerome was in Europe.

It was a great pleasure to be with Anne, Aurélie and Lizhi. We spent a good evening. Thanks to Lizhi, we managed to open the bottle of wine. She was our queen, our guardian angel!!!

It reminded me the good times with my friends in Paris. I DO NOT FORGET YOU!!!!

When will be the next party??? :)

CABLE-SKI octobre 31, 2007

Classé dans : Going out — fliz @ 11:29

cable.jpg

There is a cable-ski 15 minutes walk from home. It’s located on “East Coast Park” (see my article).

Last week, Jerome tried it with Arnaud, another friend. They were so cute with their helmet and life jacket. Aurélie and me have encouraged them, we will try it maybe one day…

The principes of cable-ski : this is the same of a lift but on the water. You are guided by a cable held by the force of your arms and you have to stand on a wakeboard. You have to find the balance and the right position in order not to sink into the depths…

We went there on Saturday night when there was less people. I can tell you, the pression was rising quickly when Jerome and Arnaud saw the performances of guys before them. I tried to reassure them :”it’s normal, these guys do that all the day non stop!”

They tried several times. Jerome managed to finish two laps. It requires a lot of energy. Thanks to that Jerome discovered muscles insuspected!

They want to do it again!

My first Ladies Night! octobre 14, 2007

Classé dans : Going out — fliz @ 2:34

ladies-night.JPG

When the French Association of Singapore told me about Ladies Night on october 9th, I asked myself : “What futility!”. But, after one week, I thought it was an occasion as another to go out and make friends.

In first part of evening, a friend and me decided to have diner in an Indian restaurant, “Ivory” at Clarke Quay. We tried tandoori chicken and onion naans to start. Then, we ate fish curry. I appreciated the quality of the food, service and smart decoration.

The appointment with the others ladies took place at “Bar Cocoon”at 9pm. This chic lounge bar is situated downstairs in Forbiden City (very explicit…), a Chinese building composed of various trendy bars and restaurants. The interior is very spacious and relaxing. There is an Far-east atmosphere in Indochine style.

We had a drink and spoken in French, of course!

For the third part of evening, we went to the “Ministery of Sound”. It’s a big night club which has several rooms. It was a long time ago that I haven’t moved on the dance floor! When I enter in the first room, It was incredible, I had the feeling to be too old… Just teenagers! We accrossed a lot of rooms and stopped in disco one. At last!

You have to know every Wednesday, in nightspots, it’s Ladies night. Some hotels as “the Fullerton”,(as I’m concerned the most wonderful)offers champagne and vodka, good to know! Maybe the next time…
