Who Would have been imagined I will live in Singapore? I didn’t know where it was located on the Earth map one year ago… What a shame, isn’t it? However, I’ve always wanted to live in another country. When I was young, I was fascinated by the University campus in the USA : for me, It was my dreamland. Until now, i didn’t have the opportunity to live out from France, my native land.

When, my husband proposed me to go away from France in last November. It was GREAT for me! I was so exciting to discover Singapore. In my mind, a lot of advantages and objectives. As a lot of French people, my english is not very good; it’s a chance for improving my english. Then, why don’t I learn mandarin language?

Here, we are! My husband and I arrived on the 28 th of August. We travelled lightly : we sold all the furnitures before leaving. It was not a problem, I’m not a material girl. When we went out from airport, ouch! What heat! once in a car, ouch! What cold! I know i must adapted to the air conditionner very high…

Our new appartment is not far from the airport ten minutes by taxi on the “East coast”. It is in a condominium with 21st floors; we’re at the 16th floor. Not bad at all!!! There is three bedrooms with two which have a great view on the sea. We add to this the access to the facilities : a big swimming pool, a gymnasium, steam….

Even if we are 8 km away from the city, we are not lost! We have a little shopping center “Singlap center” which is convenient for everyday shopping; it’s just at five minutes walk. Around, there is a big variety of food : chinese, indian, american… What a surprise to me! Are we in Asia?

We tried some of them ; the food is excellent and the price, too! You can eat for 5 $ SGD in the food court which are in the basement of the shopping centers. You have to know the most of Singaoreans prefers going out to eat than cooking at home. The reason is very simple; it is cheaper.

My first impression on Singapore : a modern way of life, good food, green. But behind this perfect life what is hidden?
