Celia, her friend of Jerome spent 2 weeks at home. She loves art and culture, she offered us with Ariel, a friend to go to watch a singaporean film.

I was quite interested in watching it for several reasons.

1/ I have been living in Singapore for almost one year and i have never been to watch a singaporean film. I know it is strange but there are very few…

2/ Usually, we go to a multiplex cinema and I wanted to change and see this cinema located on the Mount Sophia(this place is well named when I see the upstairs, it was huge, isn’t it Ariel?)

3/ For my culture

The cinema is located on a school of arts. When we enter in the room it was great because no crowd and we could have a seat on the fantastic red sofa. I can tell it was the most confortable cinema that I have never seen in my life!

However, when the film began, a big surprise, it was so boring : very long sequences, few dialogues. It was quite confusing because in the same scene, a same character was interpreted by several actors and so slow. Nothing happened! It was terrible because I was so tired that I fell asleep. But I was not the only one : the film lasted 2hours…

Fortunately, at the end, the productor came to explain and we aked some questions. Thanks to this exchange I have understood a little bit the objective of his film. He was very friendly.

Next time, we will try again the experience but it would better to see the sypnosis before…

MY FIRST PLAY IN SINGAPORE juin 22, 2008

Classé dans : Non classé — fliz @ 1:05

Lizhi a friend of mine offered us to discover a play in a theatre. Obviously, I said : “YES”. When I was in Paris, Jerome and I often used to go to the theatre. We lived in the famous area “gaieté” near Montparnasse, this place are full of theatres.

Lizhi, Ibrahim, Jerome and I have been to watch a play in a theatre Studio theatre in NAFA during the biggest Little Play Festival, Short Sweet Singapore. The play was composed ten little plays. Each one lasted about 10 minutes. I figured out that I did a lot of progress in listening and understanding : I understood everything! I could understand all the jokes and laugh at the same time than the audience!

I was quite concentrated because at the end each person had to vote for the best little play. The plays deals with serious subjects or everyday life : relationships in a couple and in a family, divorce, wedding, racism, discrimination at work, love, suicide… It was very interesting because players represented native from everywhere : chinese, indian, portuguese, english, canadian,…

My favorite play called “Free Fall”. It spoke about a man who seems really lost in life, he was about to kill himself by jumping from the top of a building and there is a girl who does not to talk and talk. She tried to prevent him from jumping into the void. Then, little by little others persons joined us : a depressed Singaporean student who had a misjudgement at school( a B….), a girl and another man. They have the same objective jumping… It is a little bit tragic but the main player was pretty good with his monologue. I liked as well another play about love (less depressing hihihi). A poetic and lyrical play : a man who can not choose between two women. He loves both : one represents for him the sky and the eyes of the others the Sea. Very beautiful, isn’t it?

It was great to laugh and spend good time. When will we go back?

HONG KONG PARTY juin 5, 2008

Socrate Birthday

Jerome and I went to HK for 5 days in order to celebrate the birthday of Socrate, a friend of my husband.

For the first time, we booked an hotel the “Jen hotel”, very design, located in the west of HK Island. It just took us by taxi 5 minutes to go downtown. A couple of friends, Duyen, Sopheap, their son and daughter were there as well. They came from Paris to create the surprise for Socrate, his mum came too.

We were not lucky : the weather was horrible, it rained everyday.

The party planner was Nghia,he organized everything. He reseved a private room at the “Lotus”, a thaï and vietnamese restaurant last Saturday night. There were about 15 persons for the first part of the evening. Then we went to the “Finds”, Nghia and Socrate love this place : they know the manager.15 persons more joined us. Different nationalities : French (of course!); Korean; Chinese; English and even greek! It was very pleasant to be on the roof outside. HK is the place where people meet, mix and have a talk very friendly. I met even a greek girl in the toilet! We swapped our contact number. Her name is Alexia, she speaks a perfect French. (Sometimes, i wonder why I am not “quadrilingue”! the answer is maybe I am French…)

After a lot of champagne bottles, we went to a club named “MInt” (you pronounce it just like in French). You gonna say it is strange but I am the only one who drink no alcoohol except Chantana she is pregnant… I was very proud of me. When Isaw around me,alot of drunk people : not nice, isn t it?

Jerome and decided to go back to the hotel at 4 am : very late in the night or rather early in the morning. I feel as a old person, I am not used to go out late. When you live Singapore, there is not much entertainment. Singaporeans are not very funny people. When you compare Singapore to HK, Singapore is for family whereas HK is for singles. We should be used to out going for a next moving…

The day after, we strolled along the HK bay. Then, we joined our friends to TsimTsa tsui station, the other side of the bay in order to see the “Symphony of lights” but it was really disapointed.

As we could not go to visit the Peak, Aline and I decided to go shopping in Causeway Bay last Monday. it was fantastic : a building with a plenty of tiny shops. I found my “hapiness” in a long striped shirt and fushia ballerinas for cheap price.

Time flies! Tuesday, my last day in HK. it was a very nice trip and i lovedto spend time with frinds drom Paris.

I WATCHED SEX AND THE CITY MOVIE AT LAST! mai 29, 2008

Classé dans : Cinema — fliz @ 10:28

After long months of waiting, I finally watched the film of te year Sex and te City movie yesterday. Verdict : sublime, worship, to watch nd watch again! OK I am not impartial because I was a big fan of the TV show…

Muriel, a friend of mine and I went to Cathay Cineplex in the evening. I had booked one week before to be sure of having tickets. Muriel had never heard of the serie. It was the occasion for her to know about the most famous New York girls in the world. Muriel made me laugh because she wore peep toe and she planned socks in her handbag…

It was 142 minutes of pleasure, it was fantastic to find again Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte on the big screen. Despite 4 year absence. Each has not changed : Carrie, the fashionista, is wondering a lot of questions on the relationship men and women; Miranda, the working-girl, is completely lost and she does not how to choose  between her family and her work; Samatha, the seductive who decided to monogamous, is moving to LA with her boyfriend and Charlotte, the idealist, is happy with her husband and her adoptive daughter.

Why do I love the Sex and the city movie? I explain you in differents points:

1- Our 4 New york girls represents the independance of the woman. She works, she has each their own pesonnality and like freedom. They talk about sex very easily without taboo(even if Charlotte can be shocked by the sexual apetite of Samantha sometimes…).

2- Because I love fashion. This movie is a delight for the eyes. All four wear wonderful outfits each sequence. Carrie is somptuous in her wedding dress of Vivienne Westwood and we are almost jealous when she poses for Vogue in several prestigious wedding dresses of the biggest fashion. It was staggerring! They make us dream when they assist at the New York Fashion Week. I can dream…

3-Because they are funny : I love them because they are so natural when they talk each other. They can be very ironic and have a great sense of humor. Samantha ihe best for this : she has the art of the repartee.

4-For their strong frienship. Each is always there for the other. They can be confident and this is their strentgh. We find a little bit of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda or Charlotte in us or in our friends. We share their cosmopolitan*(the recipe below), we want to cheer with them.

I planned to watch it again but in French when I will be in Paris : I hope it is still showing until July.

Notices to those who wish to see it again this summer with me!

Cosmopolitan : for one drink

-3 cl cranberries juice

-3 cl vodka

-2 cl grand marnier

-1 soup spoon lime juice

Blend all with ice.

Cheers! ;-)

SEX AND THE CITY : 1 DAY TO GO mai 27, 2008

Classé dans : Cinema — fliz @ 4:49

Sex and the City movie

Who does not know Sex and the City? I think it is impossible when you heads up and you see wall advertisements. Nobody  escapes or you live in a bunker in recent months!

In Singapore, they sell limited edition Coke Light cans with the legs of all four leads from Sex and the City to promote the movie. In my opinion, they do not need to make advertisements but just go to see it!

One day to go before the release of the famous “Sex and City” movie. As you know a movie very expected by every women. As far I am concerned, I am an addictive of the serie and I look forward the movie! But how to explain all frenzy.

The story begins in 1998 into the small screen as four women in their 30s looking for love in the “Big Apple” : The first protagonist Carrie bradshaw (Sarah Jessica parker), a journalist who is the voice off. Though her articles, she portrayed the romantic relationships and her setbacks in this great city.  There are the lawyer miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon), the publicist Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and art dealer Charlotte York (Kristin Davis).

From 1998 to 2004, though the six seasons, these four independant and fashion women have made us dream : hanging outs, shopping at the biggest, sex. We would like to have friends like that. This is the first serie in which women talk about sex without taboo.

To refresh our mind, when the sixth season of the TV show ended in 2004, Mr Big went to Paris to look for Carrie, who had moved with her Russian artist boyfriend. Their relationship ended and Mr Big took her home to New York. Miranda, the pragmatic, had to take her of her son. Samantha, the maneater, went though chemotherapy for breast cancer and started a monogamous relationship with Jerrod Smith. Charlotte adopted a girl from China after she attempts at pregnancy failed.

After 4 year absence, Will the movie keep going the fairytale? What is happened during the wedding of our Carrie? The 142 minutes long will answer to all existing questions.

What I expect the most is the 300 costumes changes of the four stars of the Sex and especially the Carrie ones. Carrie wears 84 different Incredible wardrobe!

Let is go girls, get ready to be surperficial! :)

SUNDAY BRUNCH ON EAST COAST PARK mai 25, 2008

Classé dans : Going out — fliz @ 1:50

It is funny but I have never tried brunch when I was In Paris. So, I decided to try in Singapore.

Jerome, a couple of Swiss friends Muriel and Bernard and I ate a first brunch at the “Twenty Six”, an outdoors  restaurant located on East Coast Park. We got there at 11 am and we stayed until 3pm : very relaxing time.

We booked but we were surprised to be the only one. In Paris, a place like this would be full all the time. But in Singapore, the most beautiful and design restaurants and bars are often empty, don not ask me,  I can not explain it… The atmosphere, the seaview,  the ambience, were wonderful. We were lucky because a jazz band performed during the brunch. I repeat myself once again but life in Singapore is terribly hard, I assure you…

We started by a continental buffet, then I ate pan fried seabass with mushrooms as main course, it was very delicious. And the best, the most long awaited, the supreme final: the desserts. I took a slice of chocolate tart with a magnificent layer of nougatine, a must! A mini apple crumble and a blue berry muffin : so so ; an abricot creme in a little glass : exquisite! And I finish with another slice of the famous chocolate tart : irresistible!

A walk along the sea needed!

WAKEBOARD AFTERNOON mai 25, 2008

Classé dans : Sports — fliz @ 11:41

Jerome, Arnaud, Aurelie and I decided to go to wakeboard yesterday afternoon. We met at Pongol Marina in the North west of Singapore. We hired a boat for 4-6 persons at lower price. Indeed, we paid 50 SGD per person for 2 hours!

The weather was sunny and not too hot, so perfect. We boarded in the boat of our host, Mammoud at 2pm. Jerome was the first, he had already done wakeboard, only once. He managed very well and I was surprised by his fluency. The second was Arnaud. I can say “good job” for his first try, he managed as well. I brought my video camera : you know me I always take my video camera for everything even for nothing AH AH AH!!! I took uncredible videos which are on “You tube”.

Mammoud said : “Who is the next?” In fact, at the beginning, I have not planned to do wakeboard. But Jerome and Arnaud seemed enjoyed. So, I did not think about it and I started. Mammoud was awesome, a very good teacher he explained all the gestures to do and reassure me. I L-O-V-E-D it. I managed too. It was gorgeous except the fall and swallow salted water. I forget to tell you but do not imagine blue transparent water as in your dreams but rather a sea where you can not see inside… beurk! It was very strange but I was not afraid…

Here you can see my “exploits” in the video below.

It was a really good afternoon. We had a lot of fun! I am so hurry to try again in two or three weeks!
